Gun Violence – What’s Your Take?

Newtown and Aurora have recently brought publicity to an issue that America has wrestled with for a long time. What to do about gun violence? While Republicans and Democrats bicker about what the right plan of action is, the majority of Americans believe that common sense actions must be taken.

While the debates in Washington, on the television and on the streets continue, this issue is very relevant to the student body. While many issues that gain national attention have little relevance to the students of NPHS (what is a fiscal cliff and why should I be scared of one?), the issue of gun violence is an issue that we can all relate to. Newtown and Columbine both show how schools can be plagues by evil in a blink of an eye. What to do about this problem? Is there a problem? Do we blame guns, or violence in American society? Are we safer with no guns, or guns in the hands of good people? While we may have various opinions about what to do, we can all agree that gun violence in America must end.
