Why YAG is Special

A few months ago I went to Model U.N. very interested in the issues, but I had a hard time relating to them and being sympathetic towards a country that I had never even heard of, let alone been to. Thats why Y.A.G. (Youth and Government) is special. The issues are right in your backyard and your opinion really does matter. Also, you really can make a difference at Y.A.G. If your bill is passed at conference, it can actually be passed as a real New Jersey state law. If you’ve ever been driving in the rain and used your windshield wipers but had to keep your headlights on, that’s because of a kid from Y.A.G. He wrote a bill at conference and it was passed as a law in New Jersey. Everyone at Y.A.G. is so supportive and really wants to hear your opinions. Since I’m a first year I was a little nervous going into the Pre-Legislature meeting but right as I was walking into my committee, I was greeted by an experienced junior who asked about my bill. It’s inspiring to get up and talk in front of a room full of strangers or run for an officer’s position. I’m barely back from the Pre-Leg. meeting and I’m already excited for the actual conference.

Anyone who is interested in joining Y.A.G. should see Mr. Meyer in room 421.
