Field Day

Field Day

The name may be a bit misleading, but Field “Day” is actually a yearlong competition between three student teams, the Green Team, White Team, and Gold Team.  It is run by Mr. Chango and Ms. Ellis.  All of the students at NPHS are on a team based on the first letter of their last name.  Students with last names from Adams-Gargiulo are assigned to  the Green Team, students with last names from Garvin-Nash are on the White Team, and students with last names Navarro- Zimmerman are on the Gold Team.

Each Team is led by a group of Juniors and Seniors.  The captains of the Green Team are Chris Aresco, Johnny Barletta, Brandon Crescensia, Myah Campbell-Reeves, Ronnie Doyle, Mimmo Coppola, Joe Ciarocca, and Jill Balog.  The captains of the White Team are Kevin Maluso, Julia Loria, Kyle Kroeger, Nick Iannocone, Curtis Kyzima, Jenna Madden, Alex Iuliano, and Juliette Minahan.  The captains of the Gold Team are Nicole Sanczyk, Megan Sullivan, Aditi Padmhanaban, Julia Oldakowski, Jackie Pluviose, Dan Smith, Derek Singer, and Eric Roper.

Throughout the year, there have been many chances for each team to earn points.  Points could be earned by showing up to sporting events, by participating in food drives, by winning the No Shave November competition, and taking part in the upcoming blood drive.  The current score for field day is as follows: The White Team is in first with 327 points, Green Team is in second with 321 points, and Gold Team is in third with 231 points.

On June 14, there will be one final day that is full of competition of various kinds.  There will be volley ball games, obstacle courses, chess tournaments, a trivial bowl, a bake off, an art competition and much more.  It is this day of competition that will decide which team will win Field Day so be sure to sign up for whatever events intrigue you. This final hoorah for the field day teams are what truly puts the “day” in the field day name! So get pumped, and get ready to compete for your team!

If you want to get involved with Field Day talk to one of team captains, Mr. Chango or Ms Ellis.
