As the 2013-2014 school year is fully on its way, there have been many new additions. The newest addition to the New Providence High School faculty is new Assistant Principal, Mr. Jay Richter. Mr. Richter spent two years as the Assistant Principal at Allen W. Roberts before taking the leap in his career to the high school. He has come into the new school year with a mindset to make the high school a safer place. While a student at the University of Scranton, the thought of being in the high school environment was not in his plans. After graduating college Mr. Richter had a degree in communications and worked in the field for a short while before discovering he didn’t enjoy it. Coaching soccer during his free time and on the weekends began to be part of his daily schedule. There is where Mr. Richter fell in love with working with children. Leaving his career in communications he earned his teacher certification at Farleigh Dickinson University. Shortly, after that Mr. Richter began teaching elementary and middle school students in Morristown, New Jersey.

Throughout the years he has excelled in his career, from teaching in Morristown to becoming the Assistant Principal at Allen W. Roberts. Then, just recently he accepted the position at New Providence High School as the Assistant Principal to Principal Lauren Zirpoli. Approaching the end of the first Marking Period, Mr. Richter has loved the school year so far. He is very happy with his position and the New Providence School System. Even though being the Assistant Principal of a high school is a tough full time job. Mr. Richter has found time to continue to give back to his community by coaching soccer and working with kids not only in school but out of school as well. You can find Mr. Richter in the Main Office and he is always up to talk to the students of NPHS.
