NPHS Clubs to Join!

Bruna Silvestre, staff writer

School organizations are always looking for new interested members and welcome prospective students with open arms. To join a club or for more information on each organization’s activities, the contact information of club leaders has also been included. Find out ways to get more involved in the pioneer community, and keep clubs alive!

Music Club:  Music Club meets bi-weekly and provides the opportunity for students to learn a new instrument, collaborate in making music with friends and volunteer in the community.  If you have any questions please contact the club advisor, Mrs. Briceno, at [email protected].

Science Competition Club: Regional and State competitions encourage collaboration between the team members and require the application of scientific principles. Every area of science is represented in these competitions. Students interested in biology, chemistry, physics, or environmental science are welcome to join. Events require the use of technology, building models, completing lab practicals, and problem-solving. For any questions, please contact the club advisor, Mr. Butterfield, at [email protected].

Math Club: The math team competes weekly and works collaboratively to discuss and solve interesting and challenging problems. There are no requirements and everyone is welcome! For any questions, please contact club leader Liza Alexandrov at [email protected].

Gender Sexuality Alliance: Previously known as the Gay-Straight Alliance, the GSA works to create a supportive environment for all members of the LGBTQ+ community through service projects, fundraising for AIDS research, field trips, and more. The club welcomes allies and members of the LGBTQ+ community alike. For any questions, please contact club president Bruna Silvestre at [email protected].

Literary Magazine: The lit mag is a chance for students to integrate into every phase of the writing process and produce an online and hardcopy publication distributed school wide! For any questions, please contact club advisor Ms. McGraw at [email protected].

The Providential:  The school newspaper is an online publication that provides students with the opportunity to express their opinions, inform their peers, and involve themselves in the business of 21st century journalism.  Contact Dr. Hennessey in room 410 for more information:  [email protected].

Teens4Refugees: TeensForRefugees is a club that helps spread the message about the Syrian refugee crisis. We also fundraise for the IRC (International Rescue Committee) and tutor refugees between the ages of 3 and 17. For more information contact the club email: [email protected]
