Cross Country Update

It was back to business for both boys and girls cross country teams when the Shore Coaches Invitational hit hard on Saturday the 5th. The course, better known as Holmdel, is one of the toughest courses any cross country runner will ever race in their high school careers. The course is split into many parts. It begins with “the roller coasters”: short up and down hills that last for about half a mile. It is then followed by a long run through open fields until you reach the bowl. If you ever have the chance to talk to a cross country member, just ask them about the bowl. They will instantly groan at the name. The bowl is what it sounds like – a huge bowl that dips deep down into the earth, and the only way out is to trek across a very steep, very vertical uphill. The bowl wasn’t ready for NPXC to show up, seeing as Senior Rebecca Blitt and Sophomore Megan Friscia placed 7th and 8th respectively out of 127. For the boys, 3rd and 12th place out of 141 belonged to Sophomores Jordan Price and David Adams.
New Providence’s next meet will be October 12th at the historic Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
