Mr. Murphy has been working for the High School for 19 years and really loves his job. He is a NPMS gym teacher and a girls NPHS soccer coach.

When he was young he loved playing soccer and basketball. As a kid he thought his skill wasn’t going to take him anywhere so he tried to help all of the high school soccer teams and started to want to be a coach.  He started coaching soccer when he was in high school by helping with the travel teams. He also loves coaching the soccer team, and he said, “That would be my favorite sport to coach”.

Besides always having a positive mental attitude, his biggest accomplishment in coaching was winning the three Group 1 state championships throughout the years.

Since he coaches at the high school field, he has been on the new turf many times:  “ It looks beautiful and is so nice to play on.”

Mr. Murphy says the new turf makes the ball roll slower and the bounces are normal and feels like a grass field. He also says he thinks it’s easier to play on a turf field compared to most grass fields because it can’t get muddy or ruined in weather. Also, he says he would much rather play on a turf field than a bad grass field. But, if the grass field was good and taken care of then he would be fine playing on it.

Mr. Murphy is an amazing teacher and a wonderful coach. He is always helpful in gym class and is a very good health teacher.
