Cookie Prices Increase

Cookie+Prices+Increase

Inflation has an effect on the whole country, increasing prices of most common products. NPHS is no different. This year the price of a cafeteria cookie has increased, as have other lunches and snacks. The main reason for the increase in price is simply inflation.

As Melissa, the food service director for New Providence School District explained: “Everything has gone up, because that’s just how things are right now”.

Issues in the larger economy have also contributed to the increase in prices.  Shipment issues and employment issues all contribute to the price tag that students pay for a cookie in the cafeteria.

Melissa explains that: “You have to take everything into consideration, people can’t find workers so they have to pay workers more.”

So far, Melissa said,  there haven’t been any major complaints, or emails, from students.
