The New York Nix

The New York Knicks started their season with high hopes. They missed out on their top free agent choices but they still signed a few good players, the head of that being Julius Randle. But not many people imagined they would already be this terrible. They sit last in the Eastern Conference and are tied with the Golden State Warriors for the worst record in the league (2-9).

Many people complimented the Knicks for signing head coach David Fizdale, but that signing has proved to be an utter disaster. Fizdale has been criticized for simply not running functional lineups out on the floor and letting rookie RJ Barrett do whatever he wants. It is being reported that management is “laying the foundations” for Fizdale to get fired. He only signed with the Knicks in May of 2018. This is another Knicks coach who has simply failed to live up to expectations. He is publicly critiquing his own players and then not giving them a real chance to do anything in the game.

It may not be all Fizdale’s fault though. The Knicks roster is very, very terrible. The Knicks went into last summer’s free agency with unreal expectations. A new big three was supposed to form within the NBA. It would be Zion, Kyrie, and KD and joining the Knicks through free agency and the draft. Hilariously, KD and Kyrie went to the Brooklyn Nets while the Knicks pick fell to four which left them without Zion. They signed other pieces, but the lineup David Fizdale has at the moment is a lot worse than he was expecting.

We talked to Jason Graham, a die hard Knicks fan, and he was not happy with the team at all. He doesn’t understand how they are still one of the worst teams in the NBA and how “nothing seems to be done right” within the organization. We asked a question about how this past summer’s free agency went and just his facial expression was enough of an answer. He is in support for David Fizdale to be fired, as he believes that his coaching and his system is ruining the development of the Knicks’ young core: “Dennis Smith Jr. only getting 10 minutes a game is a travesty.”
Once again another year of basketball will be trash in New York. It is sad to see as New York has one of the biggest markets in the whole world and Madison Square Garden is one of the most exciting places to play. The Knicks will tank the entire year to hopefully secure a top pick, but will that player even be great? The Knicks are a laughing stock and will continue to be terrible for a very long time.
