Madame Huynh has been a teacher at New Providence High School for 22 years and has shown her dedication and passion for teaching all throughout. After being born in France, she spent a large amount of time there, including going to college. She went to a French university and graduated with an MBA, and some years later, she moved to the United States and began teaching French at a middle school in South Orange. After a few years there, Huynh began working at New Providence and has loved it ever since.
Huynh is a very busy teacher due to being one of the only French teachers at NPHS, besides Mrs. Timmerman: “my daily activities are to be here and on time from 7:30 until 3pm and I have six classes, so I have a lot of students, and I need to give occupations and activities to each student in different classes. My challenge is to get my students from one level to another level quickly and to keep the student entertained, occupied, and learning at the same time.”
After the school day finishes, Huynh likes, “to be outside. So for me, it’s either tennis, biking, or running. I go home and I try to do one of the three activities so I’m refreshed. And it helps me to be healthy”.
Fitness is very important to Huynh and she shows this by incorporating zumba videos and other dancing videos to try and keep her classes entertained and healthy.
When asked if she would ever want to do another job, Huynh said, “At this point in my life, I like to be a teacher. I enjoy being a teacher. I enjoy to have fun with them, and I’m not sure there’s another job that would give me that pace at this time. I also like working at a school and with kids very much. I think they entertain me more than I entertain them! I think I learn more from them than they learn from me. I learn how to be patient, I learn about the news games and apps and vocabulary.”
After 22 years of working at NPHS, Huynh’s passion for teaching has never waivered and she has continued to spend every day trying to help her students learn as much as they can while still enjoying the class.
