As the fall season comes to an end, The Providential has taken a look at how the Pioneers fared in the fall season!
Cross-Country
The boys and girls cross-country teams both fared very well this season. The girls team, led by MVP Megan Sullivan, was able to win the Sectional meet, and do very well in other big meets. The girls team was very proud of the season and looks forward to a bright future. The boys team finished second in the Sectional meet, falling to rival team Oratory. The boys team ran the fastest ever average race time in New Providence history. Led by MVP Michael Wolak, there is a strong group of runners ready to break out next season.
Volleyball
The girls volleyball team had a record of 8 wins and 15 loses this year. Led by MVP Amelia Ekert the team was able to come up with some big wins this year. The team hopes to continue this success into next season and beyond.
Football
The Pioneers fell to Roselle Park in the Semifinal Round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 Tournament, but overall had a very successful season. They finished the season 8-3, with one of those wins over rival GL on Thanksgiving. The team MVPs for the season are Vinny Sidoli on defense and Derek Singer on offense. The team hopes to make it back to the finals next year, but can hold their heads high after a very impressive season.
The boys soccer team finished the season with a record of 3 wins, 13 loses, and 3 ties. MVP Conor Pellas had a great season for the Pioneers, leading the team from the center of the field. The boys team lost many valuable seniors after last year, but the team was able to have a very good season. The season was highlighted by an impressive win over Whippany Park in the state tournament.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team finished with a record of 10 wins and 12 loses this year. This record may not seem impressive at first, but the girls team played some very challenging teams this year. Led by MVP Jenna Madden, the Pioneers were able to make a push in the state tournament and win some very tough games.
Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team had a very good season this year. MVP Sam Midwinter led the team through some tough matches, and to a very impressive showing in counties. The tennis team hopes build on this years success, as the majority of the team will be back next season.
