The NPHS boys varsity soccer team has kicked off the season with a strong 5-2 record, despite facing several key injuries. Strong team chemistry and contributions from bench players have fueled their success, giving the team high hopes for the season.
Goalie Kyle Felt credited the team’s resilience: “I think we’ve all had the next man up mentality. When people need to step up, they have stepped up, which is a big thing for good teams.”
This mindset has kept the team competitive, with every player prepared to contribute when needed.
Captain Daniel Silva emphasized the importance of team bonding: “Yeah, we have pasta parties for every single game, and we have some yoga sessions as a team.”
Felt also highlighted their cohesion on the field: “I think our strength is being able to play as a unit. I don’t think many teams are as close as we are, and we really show that on the field with our passing.”
Their teamwork was on full display during their game against Delaware Valley, where superior passing allowed NPHS to control the game.
Head Coach Craig Barclay credited the team’s consistency as a major factor in their success: “It’s a very similar team to last year, not too many changes, and also the balance within it. We have a lot of good players that fit into this style of play.”
With strong chemistry and experience, NPHS has emerged as a dominant force in their conference and is poised to make a deep tournament run this year.
