MOVIE REVIEW: “Five Feet Apart”

Five Feet Apart a movie written by Tobias Laconis and Mikki Daugherty was released on March 15th, 2019. The movie tells the love story between Will and Stella. Cole Sprouse plays the role of Will and Haley Lu Richards is Stella. Both Will and Stella are teenagers suffering from a life threatening illness called Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that damages the digestive system and the lungs. The 5 feet in the title refers to the safe distance two people with the disease should keep between them so that they don’t pass dangerous bacteria to each other.

The movie was fantastically written and the actors fulfilled the very different personalities of the characters extremely well.Throughout the story, Will and Stella face a lot of health scares, almost putting their lives on the line at certain parts of the movie. Five Feet Apart shows the audience what patients with Cystic Fibrosis go through on a daily occurrence.

The ending leaves the reader with something to think about. Even though the story leaves the audience members sad and upset, the movie really shows how intense the disease is. This movie really shows how realistic and hard it is for patients with Cystic Fibrosis to live their lives the way they want to.
