Have you heard about the tragic love story and blood-thirsty plant roaming the halls of the school? If you have not, you definitely will soon as rehearsals for the NPHS spring musical Little Shop of Horrors have begun.

Auditions for the musical were conducted prior to Thanksgiving and the official cast list was posted by Mr. Duke soon after. Rehearsals began much earlier than in past years, and the enthusiastic cast is looking forward to the extra rehearsal time.

Brooke Arnold, Dance Captain, describes the show as a “quirky, up-beat musical.” The musical’s fun and unique songs seem to perfectly balance the tragic love story.

Cooper Fischbeck, a sophomore playing the role of Orin Scrivello, is also excited for the show because “it incorporates some really interesting props and set pieces.” The cast will utilize giant plant puppets throughout the show, adding depth and interest to the plot.

The cast is not only excited about the choice of show but the friendships that make the experience of participating in the musical so special.

While the role of stage manager is stressful, Alice Smith says that members “push each other to be better.” The cast and crew end up forming a “camaraderie” that helps everyone to put on the best show possible.

Jack Nissen, who plays the role of Seymour Krelborn, agrees, describing his theater community as a “family.” He says that “theater brings people together in the most remarkable ways.”

Little Shop of Horrors can be seen on March 13th and 14th at 7:30pm and March 14th and 15th at 2pm.
