On Thursday October 17, the New Jersey Devils beat the New York Rangers for their first win of the season. The Devils had already lost to the Jets, Sabres, Flyers, Oilers, Bruins, and Panthers this season. 

Number 20 Blake Coleman made the first goal during the 1st period against the Rangers. Blake Coleman is a 27 year old center for the New Jersey Devils. His regular season stats so far are 3 goals and 1 assist. 

In the 2nd period, one goal was scored by number 97, Nikita Gusev,  a 27 year old left wing player with 3 goals and 1 assist. Another goal was made by number 21, Kyle Palmieri, a 28 year old center with 3 goals and 1 assist. 

Starting the third period, with a 3-1 lead against the Rangers,  Jack Hughes, the newest member of the New Jersey Devils, who was also the first overall pick in the draft. He got his first assist of the season by passing it to number 44, Miles Wood for the goal. Miles Wood is a 24 year old left wing player with 1 goal and 1 assist.This put the Devils up 4-2 on the scoreboard.

During a power play, the Rangers took out their goalie to try to score against the Devils. The Devils took advantage of the open goal and P.K. Subban got his first goal of the regular season. P.K. Subban is number 76 and a defensemen for the New Jersey Devils, with a total of 1 goal and 2 assists in the season so far. 

At one point in the game Number 9 Taylor Hall, assistant captain for the Devils, seemed to score but the referee said that the goal didn’t count because the goalie already had possession of the puck before Hall tapped the puck in. So far Hall has 1 goal and 4 assists in the 2019-2020 regular season. 

The Devils have 26 more games left in the regular season, and are on track for many more wins.
