Baseball preview
April 20, 2015
A wet and snowy winter really hurt the New Providence baseball team because they had to practice indoors for most part of the preseason and all but one of their scrimmages got canceled. Coach Brodeur and the Pioneers didn’t know what to expect from their squad, but after the home opener with Linden he said: “I saw some good things out there. Our bats were swinging, Brian Madden pitched a great game and our defense was outstanding.”
Brian Madden pitched 5 innings, letting up only 1 hit, but 2 earned runs. As Brodeur said the bats were hot too. New Providence had eight total hits led by Matt Timpone and Kevin Sherman with 2 hits a piece. Josh Brenner, Scott Harvey, Matt McCann and Thomas Rispoli all got a hit as well. The three RBIs came from Harvey, Rispoli and Timpone.
The Pioneers look forward to seeing what else they can do.
