This year the Pioneer girls lacrosse players are back.  They’re ready to fight to be the  NJJGLL Independence Conference champions.  Captains Emily Molstad, Ashley Darling, Gabriela Estupinan, and Claire Eberle all have the same team goal this year:  to win their conference.  They took their first step to achieving their goal  when they defeated their first conference opponent, Montclair Kimberly, with a score of 11 to 5 on Friday, March 27th.  Other teams in the conference include Cranford, Livingston, Morristown Beard, Newark Academy and Scotch Plains.

“I think we have a good team chemistry and we work hard together”, senior Molstad said about the team.  She brings 67 goals and 119 ground balls into this year, and that includes having to take all of last year off because of an ACL injury.

The Pioneers took another victory against Morristown Beard on April 1st.  The score was close at the half but the Pioneers pulled away with the score of 16 to 11.

“I think we played as a team and worked with each other’s strengths,” Estupinan said about the recent conference game.

“If we (continue to) play like we played at Morristown Beard, I think we’ll have a good season,” says Eberle.
