An athletic trainer works with the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for people with injuries. To become an athletic trainer one must go to college for 4 years and be certified and licensed to work with patients. Athletic trainers work with athletes to make sure they are ready to go back to sports after an injury or concussion.  Athletic trainers also help athletes prevent further injuries and medical conditions.

Jorden Nolan is the athletic trainer here at New Providence High School. Ms. Nolan has worked here for 5 years. Before becoming an athletic trainer she grew up playing soccer in the fall, swimming in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring. After high school, she attended the University of Tampa and received her Bachelor’s degree to become an athletic trainer. After graduating she came to work here.

According to Ms. Nolan “being an athletic trainer is fun but also very busy.”

Ms. Nolan’s day consists of watching games and practices. She helps the athletes that have a concussion and need to go through rehabilitation. Ms. Nolan also works with athletes that have injuries.  In 10 years, Ms. Nolan hopes to still be working at New Providence High School and become the best athletic trainer she could be. To be a team player, Ms Nolan believes that one must lead the team and have good sportsmanship.

In Ms. Nolan’s free time she enjoys photography. She also enjoys playing with her dog. She has a garden and enjoys taking care of it. An interesting fact about Ms. Nolan is that she has been skydiving three times. Something that not a lot of people know about Ms. Nolan is that she drives a motorcycle. Ms. Nolan is very good at lifting weights,  has neat handwriting, and is very detail oriented.

Foxes are Ms. Nolan’s favorite animal because she loves the color orange and the noise the foxes make when they call for others, and, according to Ms. Nolan, “it is a combination of a dog and a cat.”

Ms. Nolan would love to visit Hawaii because the weather is nice and there are a lot of activities to do there. The farthest place she has traveled to was China during college. Ms. Nolan enjoys listening to mostly 90’s music but also likes a little bit of everything. Ms. Nolan’s role models are Lebron James and Oprah. If she could meet anyone dead or alive she would like to meet Abraham Lincoln. One of Ms. Nolan’s fears is drowning.

Ms. Nolan is a great asset to the New Providence athletic program.
