Meet Mrs. Lawton

Emma Wetzel, staff writer

Talking to people comes easily to Mrs. Lawton, which is one reason she is the new Attendance secretary at NPHS.

Lawton has had a few jobs before coming to the New Providence High School. She worked at KPMG and Cantor Fitzgerald on the trading floor before taking a break to raise her family: “I was a stay at home mom and wanted to get back working and I thought starting off as a sub would be a great way to get back into the workforce.”

At NPHS, Lawton is motivated by the thought of  “keeping the children safe and getting to know the children as they come in.”

Lawton would make a difference in the world by spreading love and sharing kindness, something she has had a lot of practice with from growing up with a lot of siblings.

Lawton grew up in Long Island and played three sports in high school:  field hockey, lacrosse and cheer. She went to the University of Rhode Island and studied Human Resources, a subject that comes in very handy when you’re working in a school.

Outside of the work environment she loves to vacation with her family family on Martha’s Vineyard and Florida.
