With the first marking period in the books for the 2022-2023 school year, Fall is coming to a close. The most wonderful time of the year is quickly approaching, and with it, many exciting events for NPHS students.

The highly anticipated winter semi-formal has been confirmed. The dance will be open to all grades, and will take place Friday, February 3.

Ms. Berrios said: “The committee just finished brainstorming some ideas for [the theme]”.

The Neer Nation advisor and coordinator of many high school projects, Berrios was heavily involved in the planning and execution of the recent pep rally, and she will assist the organization of the semi-formal with Neer Nation. While the theme has not been revealed yet, the options voted on were Masquerade, Winter Wonderland, 1920s, Night in Paris, and Hollywood.

The Parent Teacher Student Association is hoping to see a significant turnout from the student body at the semi-formal, as the PTSA completely funded the entire event.

This will be the first winter semi-formal New Providence High School has held in recent years.

“I’m excited to see what it’s about. I don’t really know what to expect,” said junior Gabe DeLuca.

Berrios also said Neer Nation will be organizing a spirit week leading up to the formal to get students excited about it. The spirit days have not been finalized yet, but will likely involve holiday concepts.

Another opportunity for students to get into the spirit of the season is a potential community service project. With the help of the Community Service and/or Character Education Club, Berrios said a holiday community service project will be a priority topic at the next Neer Nation meeting.
