New Providence High School recently hosted its first pep rally in about a decade.  Students and staff alike gathered in the decked-out gymnasium to recognize the outstanding Pioneer student-athletes, enjoy a performance from the cheer squad, and watch teachers and students compete against each other in a variety of games.

The pep rally started off with an amazing performance from the NPHS marching band, followed by an introduction to the varsity fall sports teams, where each team was acknowledged for their achievements. Following that, the seniors were photographed and recognized for their hard work.

Additionally, the cheerleaders took the crowd by storm with their captivating routines, showing off their skills through stunts and choreography. The several routines that were showcased throughout the event put a spotlight on the squad’s hard work, and they truly stunned the students with their performance.

There were also comical games,  consisting of eating a donut with no hands, marshmallow badminton, “shake it off”, and wrapping someone up like a mummy. There was a great amount of staff and students who chose to participate in these activities, allowing them to show off their competitive side. These games certainly helped boost the morale of the crowd.

Freshman Daniela Campos shared that “the teachers were loud.  It’s something I’ve never experienced before.”

The pep rally was an enjoyable experience for her.

Campos herself participated in the mummy game due to a friend volunteering her.

“It will forever be a part of my high school experience,”she said.

This pep rally was hosted just hours before the homecoming game where stands were flooded with neon, and the Pioneers took home another win.
