Nina Illipronti, staff writer

The Character Education Committee’s Giving Garden is coming up, The trip will take place on Wednesday, May 4th. The trip is a volunteer trip where the NPHS Character Ed club will be going to Wagner Farms.

There are about 20 students attending the trip. This is the first time that the club has attended the Giving Garden.

On this trip, the students will be volunteering outside. They will do things such as prepare plant beds, and harvest fruits and vegetables for the spring season. They also do other outdoor chores.

These fruits and vegetables then get donated to soup kitchens, the homeless, and other people in need of food.

The club going on this trip, the Character Ed Club, is run by Ms. Noppenberger, and often chooses projects based on student suggestions.

Ms. Noppenberger explains that allowing the students to choose the projects to pursue based on their interests makes the process more enjoyable. The students are bound to work hard and enjoy the process because they are the ones that came up with the idea in the first place.

She said:  “I love it because it’s usually things that you guys have, like a passion or connection to.”
