A Day in the Life of a High School Student in Quarantine

Olivia Catalano, staff writer

Due to the coronavirus, all schools in New Jersey are closed and all students and teachers are on lockdown. The numbers of cases are continuing to rise, but students are still not sure when they will be returning back to school. In this article, I will be writing about the daily life of a high school student during quarantine.

On March 26th, 2020 I started off my day by waking up at 7:30am and had a class meeting with my creative writing teacher until about 8:10am. I knew that I had another meeting at 10:30am, so I took this time and started my World Studies assignment which took me about an hour to finish completely. Once I finished World Studies, I moved onto my math assignments. Then I had my next class meeting with my Algebra teacher which went until about 11am. Then I took a break and ate a bagel with cream cheese. I had another Zoom meeting with my World Literature teacher, which went until 11:40am. After that I took a break and spent time with my family.

At 12:00, I started working on my assignments for Investigative Journalism and tried to finish up my health assignment. Once I finished my health, I had to take a vocabulary quiz which took me about 20 minutes. Then I took a break for lunch and talked with my family for a while and FaceTimed my cousin. After I hung up the phone, I got back to work and started working on my World Literature essay and that took me until 1pm. I am currently painting my room so I took a break and painted my room for an hour. Then I had another Zoom meeting with my Italian class and we talked for a while. The last assignment I had to work on was my Italian project, so I worked on it for quite a while and then moved back to painting til about 5pm. Then I ate dinner with my family and we played monopoly until about 10pm. After everyone went to their rooms and went to bed. This is my daily life as a high school student in quarantine.
