Teen Book Recommendations

Reading has become a popular hobby this year because of quarantining and not being able to do a lot of activities due to COVID-19 safety. Reading also can help you de-stress and relax. There are millions of different books you might enjoy reading. If you’re looking for a new book to read, keep reading.

Everyone seems to have a different type of book they enjoy. If you like books about extraordinary things, the following book is perfect for you:
“Currently, Lives of Tao by Wesley Chuckle is my favorite book,” says Alyssa DeMarco. “ It isn’t a particularly challenging book or anything but it’s all about how every common man has the capacity for greatness wrapped in an exhilarating supernatural spy story.”

If you really like suspenseful books, Genuine Fraud written by E. Lockhart is a perfect book for you to start reading.  According to one fan it  “is about a friendship between two girls that goes horribly wrong and it’s told in flashbacks and foreshadowing. There’s constant suspense throughout the books and it’s very well written.”

If you like murder mysteries, One of Us is Lying would be perfect for you.
“My favorite book is One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus,” says Veronica Melendi. “I love to read murder mystery books and this is one of my favorites. I liked this book because each chapter was from a different character’s or suspect’s perspective, which actually made it harder to figure out who did it.”

Another great mystery book is A Series of Unfortunate Events. It’s actually a book series, so if you like a mystery series this book is perfect for you.
“My favorite book would have to be A Series of Unfortunate Events,” says Cassidy Stevens. “This book is about 3 siblings who have to live and survive on their own because of a mysterious fire that burned down their home. I liked this book because it has tons of mystery and is sometimes very funny.”

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is a great book for you if you like coming of age novels.
“My favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and it follows the life of a young girl who lives in poverty and you basically follow her life,” says Gabbi Adams. “It’s my favorite because you can truly imagine that world around you. It shows the true gift of life and it shows how although life is not perfect, you can still be happy and enjoy your life.”

If you like fiction novels I recommend reading Counting by 7’s.

“My favorite book is Counting by 7’s by Holly Goldberg Sloan,” says Sabrina Gerace. “The story follows Willow Chance, a 12 year old genius who is obsessed with nature and medical conditions.  It was really hard for her to connect with anyone but her adoptive parents. After her adoptive parents die in a car crash, Willow is left alone in a complicated world. I like this book a lot because I used to relate to Willow a lot when I was younger. It shows no matter what happens, you are defined by how you react to a situation not the situation itself. It’s a powerful story about dedication and recovery.”
