Disney Trip Back on for 2023

Historically, every four years the entire NPHS music department goes on a trip to  Disney World during the spring. With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting school activities and trips, this schedule got off track.  Even the smaller music trips to Hershey or Williamsburg that usually happen every two years have been cancelled.

Things are starting to go back to normal, however, and the Disney trip for 2023 is taking place in April from the 11th through the 15th. The marching band, concert choir, and orchestra will all be going down to make an appearance and perform.

The schedule is packed.  On the first day they’ll go to Hollywood Studios, and on the second day the choir and orchestra will perform.

Marching band director Mr. Niedziejko said: “Both the orchestra and the choir will have performances on the stage in the middle of the whole shopping area. It’s really nice. It’s right on a pond and it’s really lovely”

The marching band performs on Thursday in the Magic Kingdom. After the performance, they spend the entire day in the Magic Kingdom so that students can go through the park.

Mr. Niedziejko explained: “We get dressed, get warmed up, and then we perform in one of the parades in the Magic Kingdom.”

Many NPHS music students are excited to be going to Disney this year.

Senior Katerina Wachtel said: “ I’m actually really excited. I’ve been waiting since I was a freshman in high school. So I’m ready to go to on this trip”

In order to prepare for the Disney trip students have started fundraising.

Wachtel explained: “We have fundraising every year and we sell cheesecakes during the fall.”

Alicia Shi, a senior who is a member of the marching band and choir, said: “ I’m excited for Disney because I get to perform for most of the time.”

Megan Huber, also a senior and member of the marching band and choir, agreed: “I’m really excited to go on rides and have fun with friends. It’s definitely a unique experience and I feel like this will be a nice way to finish off my senior year”
