Preparing for Prom

Preparing+for+Prom

Preparing for prom has stressed practically everyone who plans on attending, in NPHS. Since not everyone participates and it’s a small school, the juniors and seniors have a combined prom. It takes place at the same place every year, Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park.

With the tickets, attire, and prom weekend, it can get pretty expensive. Nevertheless, almost everyone goes all out to look their best. What’s more important than all that though? Promposals obviously. Of course, not everyone brings a date. It’s common for people to go with their friends. It’s exciting however being proposed to, or even to do the promposing. This can be tricky though because it takes creativity and time. It’s very popular in this day and age to post everything on social media, and around springtime, prom is all that fills the feed.

Prom weekend will be held in the OffShore Motel in Seaside Heights. Students rent a room or suite depending on how many people are staying with them. If you don’t want to stay at the motel you can buy a day pass and you get a wristband to get in. There will also be themes so students can dress up and add to the fun. The theme this year is USA and Tropical.

I spoke with Isabella Torsiello, a senior at NPHS and she said: “I’m excited, I think it’s going to be pretty fun.”

I asked how Isabella how she felt about prom weekend:

“I’m excited to get tan, and go on the boardwalk. Because those are really fun, and also dressing up for them.”

I spoke to Theodora Petses, a junior, and she gave me her opinions:  “I wish I was a little more prepared for prom, but once everything fixes itself out I’m going to be more excited.”

I asked Theodora if there was anything that had been stressing her out and she said:  “Oh seating, yes. I didn’t figure that out. But I have a date and I have a dress. So I have all that.”

I also spoke to Grace Vieira , another junior, to see how she feels about her first prom: “I’m looking forward to taking pictures just so I can look back on them. I’m happy about my dress but I’m nervous compared to other people’s dresses.”
