Cardinal forward Miguel Hernandez scored a goal in his second straight game against New Providence, leading Plainfield to a 2-0 boys soccer shutout over the Pioneers on Thursday.
Hernandez also tallied an assist in Carlos Tobias’s goal to lead Plainfield to the victory.
It was the second time this year Plainfield shut out New Providence. The Cardinals defeated the Pioneers on Sept. 24.
With the victory, Plainfield surpassed the .500 mark, improving its record on the year to 7-6-2, while New Providence fell to 4-9.
Both teams hit the road to play their next games, with New Providence facing Bayonne on Monday, while Plainfield travels to Kenilworth to take on Brearley on Tuesday.
